| DEFINITION |
Gum Arabic is dried exudation obtained from the stems and
branches of Acacia senegal. (L) Willenow (Famleguminosae). It consists mainly of
salts of acidie arabinogalactan protein complex, which on hydrolysis yields galactose
arabinose, rhamanose, glucuronic acid and 4-methoxy glucuronic acid. |
